Seven Americans powered into the second round at the Credit One Open in Charleston on Tuesday.

Ten Americans have found their way into the second round at the Credit One Open in Charleston, with seven of them coming through on a banner Tuesday for the American women.
Madison Keys (d. Emma Navarro), Shelby Rogers (d. Danielle Collins), Sofia Kenin (d. Aliaksandra Sasnovich), Hailey Baptiste (d. Wang Xiyu), Caroline Dolehide (d. Sabine Lisicki), Caty McNally (d. Jule Niemeier) and Bernarda Pera (d. Claire Liu) all moved through on Tuesday.
Sloane Stephens, already in the second round, lost to Victoria Azarenka, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the night session.
Big names were also in action at the first 500-level clay court event of 2023.
Paula Badosa defeated Mayar Sherif, 6-3, 6-1, while Leylah Fernandez defeated Evginiya Rodina, 6-4, 6-2.
No.2-seeded Ons Jabeur finished off he evening with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lesia Tsurenko.
All remaining seeds will be back in action on Wednesday as the 56-player draw will be whittled down to 16 by the end of play.
