Timely serving sparked Bublik. The man from Kazakhstan cracked 12 aces and saved five of six break points in a 90-minute victory.
The 46th-ranked Bublik will face Chardy, who has been a tie break titan this week, for a spot in the final.
For the second straight match, Chardy held his nerve prevailing in a tense third-set tie breaker.
This time, the 33-year-old Frenchman fought off match points at 5-6 and 7-8 in the tie breaker edging fifth-seeded German Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(8).
Chardy, who subdued third-seeded Fabio Fognini in three tie break sets to reach the quarterfinals, squandered a 4-1 third-set lead today. Then the veteran battled through a pressure-packed tie breaker prevailing in two hours and 36 minutes and leveling his head-to-head series with Struff at 3-3.
No. 2-seeded David Goffin broke serve four times sweeping Stefano Travaglia 6-3, 6-2. Goffin, who has permitted just seven games in his last two matches, meetings Alex de Minaur for a spot in Wednesday's final.
The fourth seeded de Minaur saved three of four break points in a 6-2, 6-4 decision over sixth-seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili.
