Enduring an assortment of problems this season, Alexander Zverev had all the right answers in Beijing today.

The second-seeded German was both accurate and assertive.
Zverev quadrupled the Canadian's winner output—21 to 5—and won all eight trips to net.
It is Zverev's first quarterfinal since he made the last eight in Montreal in August. Bidding for his second title of the season, the ATP Finals champion will face Sam Querrey for a semifinal spot.
Querrey cracked 32 aces fending off Diego Schwartzman 7-6(2), 6-7(6), 6-3 in two hours, 17 minutes.
The 55th-ranked American leveled his record with Schwartzman at 2-2 with both of his wins coming in China.
Zverev, who swept American Frances Tiafoe in round win, beat Querrey 6-4, 6-4 in their lone prior meeting at the 2017 Laver Cup in Prague.
Fresh off his Laver Cup debut, Stefanos Tsitsipas saved six of seven break points defeating defending champion Nikoloz Basilashvili 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Mired in a six-match losing streak before landing in Beijing, Tsitsipas has now grinded through a pair of tough three-set victories. The Australian Open semifinalist faces American John Isner in the quarterfinals.
Isner rocketed 22 aces repelling British qualifier Daniel Evans 7-6(3), 7-5 reaching his quarterfinal since he won Newport in July.
