Marin Cilic took down Jeremy Chardy in a third-set tiebreaker to advance to the last four of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

Marin Cilic edged France’s Jeremy Chardy 6-4 4-6 7-6(2) to book his spot in the semifinals at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, while defending champion Karen Khachanov was not so lucky.
Cilic improved to 11-1 lifetime in Moscow and 21-16 on the season a day after he became the 10th Active ATP player to reach the 500-win club. Win No.501 was not simple but Cilic withstood 23 aces from Chardy to improve to 4-2 lifetime against the Frenchman.
The pair traded breaks in a tight third set before Cilic locked things down in a dominant tiebreaker.
The third set did not go the way of defending champion Karen Khachanov as the Russian fell to Italy’s Andreas Seppi 3-6 6-3 6-3.
Seppi, 35, won 12 of the final 14 points to steal away with the victory. He will face Adrian Mannarino, who defeated Dusan Lajovic, 7-6(3), 6-1, in the semis.
Cilic will face either Andrey Rublev or Nikola Milojevic.
