As Novak Djokovic ramps up his Roland Garros form over the days to come he’ll likely expect even more from himself, but what he gave today on Court Philippe Chatrier was more than enough to dwarf a dangerous young opponent.
Djokovic ambled to a 6-4 6-2 6-2 victory over Poland's Hubert Hurkacz and was never pressed by the 22-year-old World No.43, as he cracked 27 winners against 14 unforced errors and claimed six of nine break point opportunities over the course of the 96-minute affair.
The World No.1 moved well, defended well, struck drop shots well and lobbed well. There wasn’t much he didn’t do well and he can look forward to fine-tuning his game even more when he faces Henri Laaksonen in the second round.
