It was a historic triumph for the 187th-ranked Serbian.
The first lucky loser to ever win a WTA singles title, Danilovic is also the first woman born in the 2000s to capture a WTA singles championship.
Danilovic is the youngest WTA championship since a 17-year-old Ana Konjuh won the 2015 Nottingham.
It wasn't easy as the Serbian left-hander squandered a championship point in the second set.
Firing her lefty forehand with lethal ambition, Danilovic delivered nearly 30 more winners (47 to 18) than the Russian wild card.
Danilovic capped an outstanding week in which she swept eighth-seeded Kaia Kanepi and top-seeded Julia Goerges before fighting off fifth-seeded Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5, in yesterday's semifinals.
