Robin Haase is a step from reaching his third Swiss Open Gstaad final after defeating top-seeded David Goffin on Friday.

Robin Haase took out top-seeded David Goffin at the Swiss Open Gstaad on Friday to move into the semifinals. The Dutchman has been effective through the years at Gstaad, reaching the final in 2013 and 2016.

On Friday Haase won for the first time in four meetings with Goffin, breaking four times on 13 opportunities and throwing in nine aces as he saved one of two break points.
“We were both a bit nervous at the beginning," said Haase. "I really enjoy the conditions here and I'm happy to be back in the semi-finals."
The World No.50 moves on to face German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann. Hanfmann backed up his upset of Feliciano Lopez with a 6-7(10), 6-2, 6-2 win over Portugal’s Joao Sousa.
The semifinal in the bottom half of the draw will feature No.2-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut and No.4-seeded Fabio Fognini. Bautista Agut powered past Denis Istomin, 6-3, 6-4, while Fognini edged Ernests Gulbis, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
