Serena Williams will face Belinda Bencic in the first round of the Australian Open, the draw revealed on Friday in Melbourne. Williams and Bencic have faced one another twice, with Bencic winning their last battle in the semifinals of the 2015 Rogers Cup.

Williams is bidding for her 23rd major title.
No. 1-seeded Angelique Kerber, the defending champion, will face Lesia Tsurenko in round one.

No.3-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska will face Tsvetana Pironkova in the first round, while No.4-seeded Simona Halep will face Shelby Rogers in round one.
