Day 1 of the U.S. Open featured a blockbuster battle between Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep plus a whole lot of goodness on social media. Let’s get right to it.
1. Petra Kvitova scores a first-round win and does not take it for granted.
2. Maria Sharapova had her A game going early against Simona Halep on Monday night.
