Midtown Manhattan was the epicenter of American politics last night.
Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton hosted election night parties in New York City—the Trump campaign at the Hilton Hotel and Clinton campaign at the Javits Center—putting the battle for national political power about 10 miles from the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center home of the US Open.
Watch: Presidential Tennis
The Presidential campaign, like the Flushing Meadows major, provided power play, trash talk, major spin, outrageous alcohol prices, raucous crowds and stunning results.
Former Secretary of State Clinton made a concession call to the billionaire businessman about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday as Donald J. Trump completed an astounding victory to become the 45th President of the United States.
That call came a little more than 16 years after model Kylie Bax, Donald Trump, then President Bill Clinton and Melania Trump, who was then Melania Knauss, broke bread, shared drinks and posed for this photo in a luxury suite at the 2000 US Open. Clinton became the first sitting American President to visit the US Open.
Donald Trump's stunning triumph in the Presidential election rocked the American political establishment and provoked strong reaction in the tennis world.
Here's what tennis stars are saying on social media. We'll update this post as the day goes on and more players weigh in with their reaction.
