The sixth-seeded Canadian will face either 128th-ranked Cagla Buyukakcay or Chang Kai-Chen for a semifinal spot.
Yesterday, World No. 153 Chang upset top-seeded Roberta Vinci, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in her Kuala Lumpur opener. Chang, a two-time Kuala Lumpur doubles champion, broke Vinci's serve seven times.
Bouchard is bidding for her second final of the season. She was runner-up to Alize Cornet in Hobart in January.
World No. 139 Kristina Kucova toppled 2012 champion Su-Wei Hsieh, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Kucova will play either second-seeded Elina Svitolina or qualifier Risa Ozaki in the quarterfinals.
Wild card Sabine Lisicki saved nine of 12 break points in a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Barbora Krejcikova. The third-seeded German will play either Naomi Broady or Yang Zhaoxuan for a place in the final four.
Lisicki is into her first quarterfinal since Birmingham last June. She was sidelined after the 2015 US Open while recovering from a knee injury.
