While admitting she’d rather have the day off, top seed Serena Williams enjoyed the next best thing with an easy win on a rare middle Sunday at Wimbledon.

By reaching the fourth round, Williams also posted yet another milestone in her stellar career. Williams earned her 300th win at a major, making her second on the list all time in the Open Era, and passing Chris Evert who holds 299 wins.
The defending champion found herself back on Centre Court on the first middle Sunday in 12 years as the event tries to catch up with matches delayed by rain. Williams faced off in the third round against Germany’s Annika Beck.
Unlike her last three set win over Christina McHale in the previous round, Williams made sure there was no drama today. The only real intrigue was in the opening games.
A tentative Williams fell behind an early break to the World No. 43 Beck. But Williams took control by breaking back and then ripping a big backhand to assume a 4-2 lead.
Williams then banged down a 123 MPH serve, her biggest of the tournament, a few games later to seal the set 6-3.
It was then all Williams from there as Williams overwhelmed her opponent in the second set.
Never dropping a game, Williams raced away with the 6-3 6-0 win in just 51 minutes.
Williams will next face in the fourth round No. 13 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova who outlasted Sloane Stephens in three sets.
