“Not one negative face,” Rafael Nadal tells Alexander Zverev as the German prepares to finish off Milos Raonic in the Laver Cup’s deciding match on Sunday. Cameras also catch Roger Federer hustling to keep up with Zverev as he heads back to the court after a break.

“I want a fist pump or a let’s go every point you win,” Federer tells Zverev (video below, warning: not all the language is clean) as the German prepares to play a championship tiebreak with Raonic on Sunday after the pair have split their first two sets.

Unfortunately Zverev can’t have Federer and Nadal giving him words of encouragement as he makes his way through the tour, but the German will surely benefit from what he’s seen and heard at Laver Cup this year, in addition to the fact that he was—once again—the player that delivered the trophy.

After the victory talked about the experience of having two legends of the game coaching him up.

“Actually, Rafa and Roger helped me a lot before the tiebreak and going into our locker room where we had a little bit of a break, and they gave me a lot of nice words, a lot of positivity,” he said. “And how they were on the bench and how everybody was on the bench was an unbelievable feeling for me to win in the end.”

Zverev says that Nadal and Federer were “screaming at me in the locker room before the tiebreak” and that he was grateful to the duo for helping him get through.

"That, you know, this is how I could turn my season around, and this is how I can get my confidence back,” he said. “You know, I played an unbelievable tiebreaker, and I'm super happy and super thankful to Roger and Rafa and the rest of the team. Without them on the bench today, I couldn't have done it.”
