It's the age of the comeback on the WTA Tour.
Former world No. 12 Tatiana Golovin announced she will return to the pro circuit—possibly as soon as next month.
More: Clijsters Comeback in 2020
The announcement comes a day after former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters announced she will launch a comeback in 2020.
A lower back injury prompted Golovin to pull the plug on her competitive career back in 2008 when she played just three tournaments.
Golovin, who won two titles and reached five finals in her career, said she's been contemplating a comeback for the past year.
"The idea has been taking shape for a year and since this summer I've been really serious about it," she told BeIN Sports, where she works as an analyst. "The goal was to be ready early next year, but things are going fast and now I plan to resume perhaps by mid-October."
In 2007, Golovin knocked off a trio of Grand Slam champions in succession—Samantha Stosur, Venus Williams and Ana Ivanovic— then defeated top-seeded Nadia Petrova in the final to win Amelia Island.
Known for her accurate groundstrokes, Golovin partnered compatriot Richard Gasquet to the 2004 Roland Garros mixed doubles championship.
Golovin reached the 2006 US Open quarterfinals bowing to Maria Sharapova.
Sharapova went on to defeat Justine Henin to capture the 2006 US Open title.
