Serena Williams broke her silence on social media since giving birth last week to praise this year’s US Open women’s singles finalists.
US Open: Keys Joins Stephens in All-American Final
The reigning Australian Open champion took to Twitter late Friday afternoon to recognize fellow U.S. Fed Cup and Olympic teammates Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens on reaching the US Open women’s singles final. Keys and Stephens will face each other in what is, for each, their first major singles final.
The 23-time major champion gave birth last week in Florida to a baby girl. Though no photos have been released, a source told E! News “Serena is doing beyond perfect. She feels great and is just glowing about being a mother for the first time. Her baby girl is healthy and beautiful."
Williams was two months pregnant when she captured her 23rd Slam singles title in Melbourne this past January. Williams recently told Vogue of her “outrageous” plan to possibly defend her Australian Open title next year.
“I just want to put that out there," she said. "That’s, like, three months after I give birth. I’m not walking anything back, but I’m just saying it’s pretty intense.”
