They are two of tennis’ most imposing servers, but Karolina Pliskova doesn’t see much similiarity with CoCo Vandeweghe.
Aside from power and aggression, Pliskova says she has little in common with US Open quarterfinal opponent Vandeweghe.

“Well, obviously I think it's the speed of the shots, but otherwise, I would not really put me and her together,” Pliskova said. “Like not even personally.”
Pliskova suggested Vandeweghe’s commitment to playing grip-and-rip tennis—even when missing by big margins—is a major difference.
“Like with the game, like, we both have the plan to play aggressive, but I think she's a little bit—not messy sometimes, but she's just going for her shots,” Pliskova said. “Even if she just miss like five meters out, she doesn't care, so it's different. It's not my game style.”
Asked her reaction to Pliskova’s remarks, Vandeweghe said her game is not that simplistic.
“I don't know. I don't know what five meters means,” Vandeweghe said. “My tennis—I don't know if I could describe my tennis in so many words. I think my tennis is a little bit more complex than hers, than as simply as she put it, but I don't know."
