When the 2017 U.S. Open began there were eight women with a chance to chance to claim the WTA’s No.1 ranking.

Now there’s only one, and that woman is Garbiñe Muguruza. The Spaniard will rise to No.1 next Monday as a result of Karolina Pliskova’s loss in the quarterfinals at New York today. The Czech held the top spot for eight weeks after rising to No.1 on the Monday after Wimbledon, but she needed to reach the final this season to continue her run.

Muguruza, who will become the WTA’ s 24th No.1 since it started tracking rankings in 1975, fell in the round of 16 at the U.S. Open to Petra Kvitova.
