Wozniacki Won’t Discuss Retirement Rumors

Caroline Wozniacki prefers to talk about her 5th U.S. Open semifinal over retirement speculation at the moment, but she’s not against gossiping about a friend’s impending marriage.

The World No. 74 dealt with questions about her father’s statement that she may be considering retirement in the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet. "I don't know if Caroline will only play till the rest of the season, or play another," Wozniacki’s father and coach, Piotr, said, according to Kamakshi Tandon of Tennis.com. "I agree she should stop while she is still fresh and do new things."

Wozniacki was asked about the rumors by a reporter after her 6-0, 6-2 victory over Anastasija Sevastova. “I think I don't want to really talk about that now,” she said. “When I feel ready to open up and say something then I will, but for now I'm just here to play this tournament. Hopefully I have two more matches here. Yeah, it's really all I'm focused on right now.”

The Dane was more forthcoming when it came to mentioning a friend’s marriage. Wozniacki spilled the beans (or so we think) on Agnieszka Radwanska. When asked to share stories about recent vacations with friends on the tour, Wozniacki said the following:

“We would still go on vacations, but the problem is like, you know, Aga is getting married, so then all of a sudden we're like, We just want a girl's trip, but it's tough when everyone has their own thing.”

Radwanska, reportedly dating her hitting partner Dawid Celt, has not commented on or announced any plans to be married.
