Kvitova Splits With Coach

Petra Kvitova has split with her second coach of the season.

The two-time Wimbledon champion announced she's parted with her coach of seven months, former ATP doubles specialist Frantisek Cermak.

Kerber: Less Is More

"After coming back from America, we have agreed with Frantisek Cermak to end our cooperation," Kvitova said in a statement.
"For now I will train without a coach like at the beginning of the season, but of course that's not the final state of things."

Kvitova completed a disappointing Grand Slam season losing in straight-sets to world No. 2 Angelique Kerber in the US Open round of 16.

That defeat followed second-round setbacks at the Australian Open and Wimbledon and a third-round exit at Roland Garros.

Following her Melbourne loss, Kvitova split with David Kotyza, her coach of seven years, who was in her box for both of her Wimbledon titles.

The 26-year-old Czech has not won a title since the 2015 New Haven. Kvitova has not surpassed a Grand Slam quarterfinal since she raised her second Rosewater Dish at the 2014 Wimbledon.

Prior to her US Open exit, Kvitova told Tennis Now her goal for the rest of the season was simple.

"The goal for the end of the season is be healthy, don't be injured," Kvitova said. "I think that's really important right now. I did not have a great season so far I think I should be more relaxed and just play and just enjoy the tennis and maybe the results will come or no."
