Juan Martin del Potro took to Facebook on Wednesday, as he is wont to do these days, to talk about his recovery from surgery to his left wrist and discuss his impending plans for return to the ATP Tour.

Unfortunately the Asian swing is happening too soon for Del Potro, but the good news is that the 25-year-old Argentine is planning to test his wrist out on the tour level this fall. Here’s what he said on his Facebook page:
“I would like to take this opportunity to tell you, my fans, that although the recovery of the wrist is progressing very well, I need a little more time to reach the competitive level necessary to compete week after week. I worked hard to be ready to make my comeback in Asia, where I had great results last year, but unfortunately it was not possible. I'm going to miss my fans in Malaysia, Tokyo and Shanghai who always gave me tremendous support. I will keep working hard on my recovery to play the European season at the end of the year. As always, thanks for your messages !!!”
After retiring from his first round match in Dubai this February, Del Potro pulled the plug on his season to have surgery on the wrist, which had been bothering him for some time, in March.
In 2010, Del Potro had a similar experience with his right wrist. After playing three events he had surgery in May and returned for one tournament in Tokyo before calling it a season. The next season he was the ATP’s comeback player of the year, winning 48 matches and two titles.
