US Open champion Marin Cilic returned to his hometown in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time since claiming his first Grand Slam title and helping Croatia return to the World Group in Davis Cup play.

It's safe to say that the people were a little bit excited.

Cilic, who claimed his maiden major title over Kei Nishikori in New York, then proceeded to secure Croatia's return to the World Group with a four-set win over Thiemo de Bakker in the fifth and deciding rubber against the Netherlands last Sunday. The Croats return the World Group after missing just one year.

"Thank you all for kind words, last 6-7 days were incredible for me, I am so happy that we managed to secure a victory in Davis Cup play offs with such a young team," Cilic wrote on his Facebook page. "We are back in the World Group, where we belong. Thank you all for the support. Rest time has finally arrived."
