Two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza says she has no immediate plans to resume her career. The former World No.1, on hiatus since January, recently gave an interview and elaborated at her current status.

Speaking at a Zumba event, Muguruza told Women’s Health that she remains on indefinite hiatus.

“Tennis has no place in my routine,” she said, in Spanish. “I still pay attention to my teammates, from time to time I can play but not intensely but more for fun. It doesn't occupy my mind, my day or my routines, I'm really taking a real break and trying to stay away from the court.”

Muguruza, who got engaged to Spanish model Arthur Borges in May, is happy to be free and taking time to embrace life off the tour.

She turned 30 last week.

“I am living this break very happily since it was something that my body and my mind needed so I am really enjoying these moments,” she said.

Asked if her intention was to return to competition, she said:

“As of today I have no intention. My plan right now is to sleep, rest, be with my loved ones, make up for lost time... I don't see beyond what I'm doing today, tomorrow and this week.”
