Karolina Pliskova has ended her 2023 season abruptly. The former World No.1 announced on Instagram that she’d be shutting down her season due to a left wrist injury.
“I wanted to share some news with you all. Due to an injury to my left wrist, I've made the tough decision to end my season earlier than planned,” Pliskova wrote. “It's never easy to step away from the game, but I believe it's the right decision to focus on my health and come back stronger next season."
Pliskova ends her season with a current ranking of 35. The 31-year-old went 22-19 on the season, reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open but losing in the first round at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. She made the second round at the US Open.
Pliskova never made it past the quarterfinals at any event this season.
She went 3-10 against the Top-20 overall.
