Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek will headline a star-studded United Cup field that features five of the world’s top 10 women and nine of the world’s top 20 men.
In a new-look, streamlined format that hearkens back to the old Hopman Cup, teams will contest one men’s singles and one women’s singles match before playing a mixed doubles rubber match.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari will headline for Greece, while Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula will lead for the United States.
The event will take place from December 29th to January 7th in Perth and Sydney, featuring 18 teams, including four United Cup debutants – Serbia, Canada, China and the Netherlands.
The United States won last year’s inaugural United Cup, defeating Italy in the final, 4-0.
Six groups of three will contest round robin play. The semifinals will be played in Sydney on January 6th and 7th.
