World No.2 and two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep has tested positive for Covid-19. The Romanian posted news on social media early Saturday, saying that she was self-isolating and experiencing mild symptoms.
The Romanian is one of fairly few top-level WTA players to test positive this year. Marketa Vondrousova, the World No. 20, tested positive ahead of last week’s event in Ostrava, and Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya has also tested positive.
On the men’s side, more top players have tested positive, including world No.1 Novak Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, Lucas Pouille and several others.
