Nick Kyrgios has elected to shut his 2017 down. The Aussie, ranked No.20 in the world, says that the hip injury he picked up at Queen’s Club this summer has become too much of a burden.

“I am shutting down my season to make sure I can rehab and prepare as best as I possibly can for the Australian summer,” Kyrgios posted on Twitter.
The 22-year-old Aussie was brilliant in spurts in 2017, but injuries and inconsistency held sway over his results.
He finishes the year at 27-16 with finals in Cincinnati and Beijing.
Kyrgios went 2-4 at the majors and four times lost to players ranked below him. He did not get past the second round of a single major this season, and hat not reached a major quarterfinal since the 2015 Australian Open.
“This year hasn’t been as successful as I would have liked, especially at the Slams,” Kyrgios wrote.
