It’s been a fantastic year for Chinese Tapei’s Chan Yung-Jan, and she now has the ranking to prove it. Chan became the 36th player in WTA doubles history to claim the top ranking, and she’ll share it with her partner Martina Hingis this week.

The 28-year-old is the second player from Chinese Tapei to climb to the top of the WTA rankings (along with Hsieh Su-Wei). Chan has gone 63-12 this season and 11-1 in finals.

“It was always my goal to become WTA doubles World No.1, so achieving this is a huge accomplishment,” said Chan, who is in Singapore ahead of this week’s WTA Finals doubles tournament. “Martina and I have had an incredible season together, and it’s an honor to share this moment with her.”

Chan won her maiden major title at the U.S. Open this season and now owns 28 career WTA doubles title.
