Nadal, Berdych Lock up London Bids
Rafael Nadal
has qualified for the Barclays World Tour Finals for an eleventh consecutive time, the ATP announced today. After racking up points in Asia with a final in Beijing and a semifinal in Shanghai, the Spaniard and two-time World Tour finalist will be gunning for a first title at the year-end championships in London.

Nadal, who this week became the second player in ATP history to win his 300th match at the Masters 1000 level, owns a record of 52-17 on the season, including titles in Buenos Aires, Stuttgart and Hamburg.
Nadal has had to miss the World Tour Finals four times due to injuries, including last year’s absence which came as a result of his bout with appendicitis. He owns a 13-11 record at the event with two finals.
Joining Nadal in London will be
Tomas Berdych
. The 30-year-old Czech qualified for the sixth consecutive year. He is a former semifinalist at the event, having reached the last four in 2011.
Berdych, who is the sixth to qualify for the eight-player field, owns a 6-10 lifetime record at the World Tour Finals.
The final two spots are still up for grabs, but
Kei Nishikori
and
David Ferrer
hold a big advantage over the rest of the field. 9th-place Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and 10th-place Richard Gasquet are the only two other players within 1000 points of the eighth spot.
The race for the two alternate spots, given to No. 9 and No. 10, should be more competitive.
Kevin Anderson
,
John Isner
,
Marin Cilic
,
Milos Raonic
and
Gilles Simon
are all within 500 points of the No. 10 slot.
ATP World Tour action continues this week in Vienna, Moscow and Stockholm.
