Eugenie Bouchard became the second high profile name to withdraw from the Generali Ladies Linz in Linz, Austria in two days on Thursday.
Rankings Report: Sharapova is the WTA's No. 2 Again
This year’s Wimbledon runner-up joined Ana Ivanovic on the sideline with an injury, citing a left leg injury. Bouchard, who won her opener on Wednesday against Patricia Mayr-Achleitner, had the injury taped heavily during the match.
"I woke up this morning and it was much, much worse," she said, according to the AP. "It's hard for me to keep playing and keep making it worse. The plan is to take a lot of days off right now and really rest. The goal is to try play Singapore in a week and a half. I won't have ideal training probably but I'll give it my best."
The quarterfinals in Linz will feature only one of the eight seeded players, as 7th-seeded Karolina Pliskova advanced with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Germany’s Mona Barthel.
Ivanovic, seeded second, withdrew from her second-round match with American Madison Brengle, citing a left hip injury. Ivanovic is a two-time champion at the event.
