A new state of the art tennis facility in Washington D.C. will bear the name of two of the sport's greatest champions.
Due to their ongoing work and contributions, Venus Williams and Serena Williams will see their names on a new arena at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC).
Since 2001, the Williams Sisters have assisted in the renovation and expansion of the center that assists local youth in the area. The unveiling of the Venus and Serena Williams Tennis Arena will take place at a gala scheduled for November 7th.
Per the Washington D.C.'s Mayor's Office, the SETLC helps over 10,000 youth with tennis instruction, tutoring, life-skills training, and includes a library and computer room.
The improved facility will include a 48,000-square-foot indoor facility with six hard courts and indoor seating, six outdoor hard courts, and an outdoor clay practice court among other amenities.
Serena Williams, currently World No. 1, is competing at this week's WTA Finals in Singapore.
