Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, ranked No. 9 in the world, has chosen two fellow Frenchmen as his new coaching tandem - Nicolas Escude and Thierry Ascione.
The 37-year-old Escude played 11 years of pro tennis, winning four career titles, reaching No. 17 in the world and making the semifinals of the 1998 Australian Open. He was the captain of France's Fed Cup team from 2009-2012 and has previously coached Nicolas Mahut. Ascione had a brief ATP career - just 76 matches - and was never ranked higher than No. 81. He also coached Mahut.
"The fact that they are two is an advantage as it means I can get different perspectives on my game," Tsonga said.
Tsonga has been ranked in the Top 10 for most of the last five years barring time off for injury, but he has yet to reach higher than No. 5 in the world. At 28 years old, the window is starting to close on Tsonga's bid to be France's first Grand Slam winner since Yannick Noah in 1983, or first French player ranked No. 1 in the Open Era.
Tsonga parted ways with former coach Roger Rasheed in August.
