If you’ve watched Rafael Nadal lately, you probably noticed his bright purple (technically “bold berry”) attire at the Japan Open and Shanghai Masters Tournament this past month.

Specifically, his shirt—the Nike Rafa Ace Masters Tennis Crew—which features a shiny silver design at the lower left front carrying over to the lower right back.

Part of Nike’s Rafa Collection, this seemingly random design holds significance for Rafa. Meant to look like constellations of stars, the metallic graphic contains three hidden symbols that represent aspects of Rafa’s life.

Take a closer look. At the bottom left there’s an outline of Mallorca, Spain—home sweet home for Rafa and the Spanish island he was born on.

At the top right is the Gemini symbol, his Zodiac sign—Rafa was born on June 3rd.

And at the bottom right you’ll find the number 25 for his age—that’s June 3rd, 1986.

Inspired by one of the sport’s greatest players, the Rafa Ace Masters Crew is refreshingly creative on Nike’s part. And if you’re a Nadal fan, you’ve got to have it. More personal than the “Vamos Rafa” tees, this shirt tells Rafa’s story every time it’s worn. Well done, Nike.
