Novak Djokovic is already setting his sights on chasing a record 25th major title in 2025. The Grand Slam king, who was seen taking in a Champion’s League football match between Crvena Zvezda and FC Barcelona earlier this week, took time to talk to reporters briefly to let them know he is gearing up for 2025.
“Tennis is still my focus,” he said, according to Serbian journalist Sasa Osmo for Tennis Majors. “I am going at full throttle in the off-season, we go for another ride. I just needed to recharge and refresh a bit after an exhausting year.”
The following day, Djokovic took in some basketball and received this incredible reaction from fans on hand. Hard to imagine another athlete being loved as much in his own country as Djokovic is in Serbia.
Djokovic recently pulled out of the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals, ending his season with a 37-9 record that featured an incredible gold medal winning performance at the Paris games, as well as a trip to the Wimbledon final just a few weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
The Serb currently owns 99 ATP titles and 1124 ATP wins.
He will turn 38 on May 22nd this year, which explains why it is important for the 24-time major champion to take some time to recharge his batteries and let his body decompress.
He says he plans to hit the ground running at the start of the season, playing an event before he heads to Melbourne to bid for his 11th Australian Open title.
“I am going to play in the first week of the season, I am just not sure yet where. Then, of course, Australian Open.“
