Yannick Noah has signed on for another year of Davis Cup. The three-time champion as a captain has signed on for 2018 and hopes to lead the French team to back-to-back titles.
The FFT posted the news on its Twitter, calling the news “great news for the culture of winning.”
The French will host the Netherlands in Albertville in early February to begin their title defense.
Noah, who never won the Davis Cup during his 11 years of participation as a player, guided France to its first Davis Cup win in 59 years in 1991. He then led them to the title in 1996. He also guided France’s Fed Cup team to a title in 1997.
In other Davis Cup news, Frank Dancevic will take over the coaching job in Canada, as head coach Martin Laurendeau has stepped down. Laurendeau, who has held the captaincy since 2004, wants to devote more time to coaching Denis Shapovalov.
33-year-old Dancevic will take on a player-coach role when Team Canada travels to Croatia for its first-round tie.
