The move was announced on social media by Khachanov early Friday, one day after he completed the ATP’s NextGen Finals in Milan without reaching the semifinals.
Khachanov reached the second week of a major for the first time at Roland Garros this season, and he also made the third round at Wimbledon. He finishes the season with a 25-29 record. The 21-year-old reached a career-high ranking of 29 in August, and finishes the year at 45.
Blanco had previously worked with Milos Raonic until 2013. The former World No.40 officially took over as Khachanov’s coach in 2015. He has also worked with Feliciano Lopez, Jurgen Melzer, Elias Ymer and Marcel Granollers.
