Azarenka Pens Letter to Fans Regarding Fed Cup Absence


Victoria Azarenka will miss this weekend’s Fed Cup final vs. Team U.S.A. at Belarus due to an ongoing custody battle for her son Leo, but the former World No.1 has taken to social media to voice her support for the team and her determination to get back on the court in 2018.

“It is heartbreaking for me to not have a chance to play for Belarus in the final,” Azarenka wrote. “But unfortunately my current custody situation is keeping me in California.

Azarenka returned to tennis as a mother this season and reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon. But she had to cut her season short when things became complicated between her and her husband Billy McKeague.
