Andy Murray and Ivan Lendl have parted ways—again. One of the most successful coach-player tandems of this era have elected to stop working together after a second union that lasted a year and a half and yielded Murray’s second Wimbledon title and saw the Scotsman reach the year-end No.1 ranking in 2016.
The announcement came from Murray’s personal web site.
“I’m thankful to Ivan for all his help and guidance over the years, we’ve had great success and learned a lot as a team,” Murray said in a statement. “My focus now is on getting ready for Australia with the team I have in place and getting back to competing.”
All three of Murray’s Grand Slam titles have come with Lendl at the helm, as well as both of Murray’s Gold Medals at the Olympics.
The pair worked together from January 2012 to March 2014, and then again from June 2016 through the 2017 season.
“I wish Andy well going forward. We had a great run and a lot of fun,” said Lendl in the statement.
