Second Serve

It was an incredible season for Juan Martin del Potro. First it was incredible that he played at all. In February he finally returned after three surgeries to his left wrist (he basically missed two seasons). He wasn’t in top form, but as his season progressed Del Potro kept expectations low by saying, famously, that he’d be dangerous next year if he kept progressing. Well, yeah, he’s going to be dangerous alright. He’s also a Davis Cup champion and an Olympic Silver medalist. There were a lot of incredible stories in 2016—Kerber’s rise, Murray reaching No.1, Djokovic winning Roland Garros, Puig’s Olympic dream come true -- but in a lot of tennis fans’ hearts and minds the story of the 2016 tennis season can be told with only one word—DELPO.

Can you say photo of the year?
