Video: Rafael Nadal Featured in Vintage Ad for Telefonica Vivo
According to
RafaelNadalFans.com
, Brazilian telephone operator Telefonica Vivo
has launched a new ad featuring footage of 14-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal at various points of his childhood
and professional playing days.
23-Year-Old Melanie Oudin Undergoes Heart Procedure
Simply put, it’s awesome to see rare footage of Nadal so young, yet so obviously exhibiting the characteristics that would one day make him the greatest clay-courter in the history of tennis.
The video starts with footage of Nadal serving at Roland Garros, then blends into a vintage shot of Nadal serving as a child in 1994 and going through all the well-known pre-service rituals and tics.
It’s just the beginning of an adventure, a titillating romp through the king of clay’s childhood that leads up to his crowning achievements: The buggy-whip forehand, the leftiness, the long hair, the playfulness that we rarely get to see but know is there, and eventually a penultimate shot of Nadal holding the Coupe des Mousquetaires aloft, followed by a cut back to one last adorable shot of Nadal, away from the court, smiling and showing his teeth like a good little boy with big dreams.
