Patrick Mouratoglou cast doubt on Rafael Nadal's readiness for Roland Garros.
Nadal's coach, Carlos Moya, gave Mouratoglou a major Rafa history lesson in response.
Nadal: Wimbledon Ban Unfair
Mouratoglou, Serena Williams' long-time coach who made his debut coaching Simona Halep in Madrid this week, delivered his blunt assessment of Nadal's Roland Garros prospects on France Television.
"He's going to play few matches and it's very rare that he comes to Paris with so few matches," Mouratoglou told the network. "It will be strange to him.
"Despite his great start to the season, Rafa Nadal has always been a player who needed to play many matches. He's not going to arrive at Roland Garros in his best form."
Moya took to Twitter to remind Mouratoglou of recent history— and request "a little respect."
"17 years in a row top 10, Roland Garros '20 with 3 matches in 7 months, Australian Open '22 with 3 matches in 6 months," Moya posted in a Twitter response to Mouratoglou. "A little respect and memory @pmouratoglou 😉"
