Dominic Thiem has joined the parade of players looking for a few more matches on clay ahead of Roland Garros.
The No.4-ranked Austrian has taken a wild card into the Open Parc Auverne-Rhone-Alps.
Thiem took six weeks off after Dubai, for the dual purpose of getting healthy and refreshing his mental energy. Since returning the Austrian has won four matches and lost two. He reached the semifinals at Madrid before falling to Alexander Zverev. He won his first match at Rome against Marton Fucsovics, before falling to Lorenzo Sonego in a thrilling three-setter on Thursday.
The two-time Roland Garros finalist joins a stacked field that includes Matteo Berrettini, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Ugo Humbert, Jannik Sinner, Gael Monfils, Diego Schwartzman and others.
