Fans on Court Suzanne Lenglen were treated to an afternoon featuring the King of Clay Rafael Nadal on Wednesday (Day 4) in Paris and the 11-time champion did not disappoint. Nadal put it in high gear during this amazing point during the second set of his 6-1 6-2 6-4 victory over Yannick Maden.

Watch as Nadal makes an incredibly difficult play look easy. He tracks down this lob from Maden, executes a pirouette around the ball and smacks a clean winner into the open court as he comes out of his spin. How does Nadal have the presence of mind to make the necessary calculations on this shot? Most players would not even attempt to make a constructive and logical reply to the lob—they’d simply hope to get a racquet on it and put it back in play. The fact that Nadal can execute the footwork and the racquet work to pull this shot off says everything about his current form in Paris. He’s getting better every week, and every match—and it’s a joy to watch.

The Spaniard will be back on Court Philippe Chatrier on Friday, where he’ll meet David Goffin for a spot in the round of 16.
