The ATP draw has been set for the first of back-to-back Masters 1000 events on the clay at the Mutua Madrid Open.
If the seeds hold, the quarter-finals would shape up as follows:
Things aren’t easy for the Top 2 seeds right out of the gate. After a bye Novak Djokovic could face Grigor Dimitrov in the second round. After his bye, second-seeded Rafael Nadal will face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Denis Shapovalov.
Roger Federer is tucked into Novak Djokovic’s half of the draw and will face either Richard Gasquet or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in his second-round match (also after bye).
Dominic Thiem and Juan Martin del Potro are also in Djokovic’s half of the draw.
