A lingering left knee injury forced Serena Williams to step out of Rome, but oddsmakers believe the 23-time Grand Slam champion can still step up and win Paris.
Though the 37-year-old Williams has played just one clay-court match this year—sweeping Swedish qualifier Rebecca Peterson in her Rome opener on Monday—and has completed just four clay-court matches in the last two years, Oddschecker still lists Serena as the third favorite to win the French Open.

Reigning Roland Garros champion Simona Halep is the favorite at 9/2 followed by Kiki Bertens, who beat Halep in the Madrid final, at 10/1 with Williams as the third favorite at 12/1.
Serena, who is bidding to equal Margaret Court's all-time Grand Slam record by winning her 24th singles major, reached the Roland Garros round of 16 last year, conceding a walkover to Maria Sharapova.
Australian Open finalist Petra Kvitova is the fourth favorite at 14/1 followed by 2018 Roland Garros runner-up Sloane Stephens and world No. 1 Naomi Osaka at 16/1.
