Roger Federer has announced that he will begin his grass-court season in early June at the Mercedes Cup. Federer, who broke he news on his personal Facebook page, will appear in Stuttgart for the third time in his career. He fell in the first round in 2017 (l. to Haas) and reached the semi-finals in 2016 (l. to Thiem). Federer will bid for an 18th title on grass in Stuttgart.
The Swiss holds a 164-24 record on grass, and currently owns a 12-match winning streak on the surface. Remarkably, the Swiss has won 93 percent of his service games on grass.
Also attending Stuttgart in 2018 are defending champion Lucas Pouille, Aussie Nick Kyrgios, 2016 Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic and rising star Hyeon Chung.
