Juan Martin del Potro’s Roland Garros is in jeopardy. After retiring at Rome while trailing David Goffin by a set and 4-5 in the round of 16 on Thursday, the Argentine has learned he has a Grade 1 groin strain. He announced the news on social media on Friday, saying that he will make a decision in the upcoming days about playing Roland Garros.
Del Potro is 22-5 on the season with two titles. He reeled off a 14-match winning streak earlier in the season and won the prestigious Indian Wells title by defeating Roger Federer in the final. He is expected to be extremely careful about his decision as his health for the remainder of the season will be critical.
