Second Serve

Why is Andy Murray pretty much unstoppable on clay right now? Well, because the clay is the canvas and the racquet is his brush. And Kim Sears, well, she’s his muse (with a little help from Amelie Mauresmo and, of course, his mum). Watch as Murray sandwiches a pair of incredibly touchy-feely shots (one dropper and one very sick lob) between a dead sprint to the net post to befuddle his foe on Monday. Beautiful stuff.

How does he do it? A better question might be: How does he not run right through the net post. We guess when you’re in the zone you’re in the zone.

Murray advanced in straight sets for his 11th consecutive clay-court victory over Facundo Arguello on Day 2. Then, because he’s that type of guy, he stuck around to root on his young compatriot Kyle Edmund as he notched a riveting victory over France’s Stephane Robert.
