The 26-year-old loves the clay and he made that clear on Monday when he flung himself head-first into the crushed red stuff during the second set of his battle with American Steve Johnson. He would fall to Johnson, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), but he’s in the lead for the hot shot of the week nonetheless.

The initial get that made the point possible was pretty amazing, as was the impromptu smash, but that diving volley—on clay, not grass, people—was absolutely amazing.
