Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has many ways to hurt an opponent. He can go big serve, big forehand, tasty drop shot, overhead smash, volley. He’s an elite athlete who has tons of options. But on Sunday against Tomas Berdych he went for the element of surprise. Check out Tsonga as he rifles this running one-hander past the Birdman for a clean, no-doubt-about-it winner. Très bien, Jo-Wilfried!
After his 6-3, 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3 win over Berdych, Tsonga told press he's thrilled to be playing in Paris, and the pressure is not a bother at all. "Yeah, for me, it's a privilege," he said. "Always enjoy to be here. They always push me... It's good to feel it. It's good to feel it. Anyway, you know, it's tough for the opponent. I can believe, you know, sometimes opponent can say it's not fair. But, yeah, it's like this, and it's good for us."
The Frenchman will face Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals on Tuesday in Paris.
