A large fire in Terminal 3 of Rome’s Fiumicino Airport caused travel chaos for many tennis players on Thursday ahead of next week’s Internazionali BNL D’Italia in Rome.
According to the BBC, the fire broke out at around 10 PM on Wednesday night and took five hours to get under control. The airport was closed for several hours but reopened Thursday. Fortunately, no deaths were reported. Though open, the airport was not working at full capacity, and many players heading to Rome were forced to endure some difficult travel scenarios.
